The Iridium Ocean is the giant pool of Iridium found at the bottom of the map.
Description[]
The Iridium Ocean is a bright cyan color, for it is filled with Iridium. Iridium can be pulled from the Ocean via Portafab or Submersible. The Player will take damage over time as they get close to it, dealing more damage based on how close the player is to the surface of the ocean, due to the thick iridium fog, which destroys the suit's filter, causing the player to suffocate.
It is possible to swim in the Iridium Ocean, but the player will take damage rapidly. It is recommended that the player jumps continuously as they swim through it to minimize the amount of time as they are touching the Iridium.
Any structures (including pieces of terrain and Hover Barges) that touch the iridium ocean when unanchored will instantly dissolve. It is possible to build structures underneath the ocean (see Submerged Base) as long as it is anchored (such as on the support derricks).
Uses[]
The Iridium Ocean can be used for various reasons. A submersible, when touching or in the ocean's surface, will collect 15 iridium per second
The Iridium Ocean also supports Seabases, which are bases built just above the surface of the ocean, and Submerged Bases, which are built underneath the ocean's surface.
